 Nainital locate at an altitude of 1938m/6357 ft,  is a beautiful hill district nestled in
the lap of the Central Himalayas, is the largest hill station  in the Kumaon region.
It's subtle yet pristine glory is maniested in the lofty snow capped peaks, green valleys and serene lakes
that have tempted lovers of beauty since times immemorial. The peaceful atmosphere of this hamlet of
solitude is shaded by Poolars & Deodars. Nature has generously endowed Nainital with transcendental beauty,
which is unveiled in its tranquil landscape as well as a large variety of flora and fauna.
Nainital is known as India 'Lake District' becasue numerous lakes are apread across its boundaries, the most prominent
of which is Naini Lake surrounded by Hills on all sides and named after the Goddess Naini. Nainial attracts a large number
of tourists who seek to explore remote and picturesque lands and bask in the glory of natural beauty.
In Nainital, places of historical interest, the wildlife reserve, fruit orchards, religious sites
and a beauteous landscape attract a variety of tourists.
 LOCATION
322 km from New Delhi, Nainital  itself was 'put on the map' by it's discovery  in 1939 by an English businessman,
named  Baron. It is the birthplace of Jim Corbett and the house where he lived, now a museum.
The Naini lake 3620 meters in circumference, with a dept of 28m, is a placid green lagoon, nestling among the hills.
The lake is surrounded by 7 peaks- Cheena Peak (2640m) Kilbury (2528m) Laria Kanta (2481m)
Deopatta & Camel's back (2535m), Dorothy's seat also known as tiffin top (2290m) & Snow View at 2290m
 
 From here one can see a range of peaks, including Neelkantha (Blue-throated Shiva, 6596 m/21569 ft),
Nandaghunti (the Veil of the Goddess, 6310 m/ 192330 ft), Trishul (the Trident of Shiva, 7120 m/ 23282 ft),
Nandadevi (Goddess of Bliss, 7817 m /25562 ft), and the majestic Panchhuli peaks.
The Mall, beautified with rows of Chinar trees, is the main hub and it  runs along the
length of one side of the lake, dotted with hotels & restrauants, You can get taxis & cycle rickshwas
here, besides booking boat  or a pony ride. Other places worth visiting, besides walking around the
lake or on the Mall, is the Hanuman Temple at Hanumangarh & the Botanical gardens,also known as Sanjay Park.

 Road: Good motorable roads connects Delhi to Nainital  . The route takes one via Hapur- Moradabad-
Haldwani- Kathgodam  OR via Bareilly - Kathgodam - Nainital.
